Course learning outcome #1:

Acknowledge your and others’ range of linguistic differences as resources, and draw on those resources to develop rhetorical sensibility

In the world of engineering, team work is a necessity. This is especially true when understanding the fact that different types of expertise are needed for different types of projects. As a result of this it is important to be on the same page with the individuals we are communicating with. This becomes especially important when dealing with things like instructions since more often than not your audience members won’t have the same level of understanding about a topic as you do. This learning outcome was met through group work as well, while all being engineers we all had different backgrounds regardless of we were majoring in the same engineering field or not. This is why it was important for us to share our knowledge in a way that anyone regardless of their background will understand, whether that was in our writing or while presenting to one another.
