CLO #5: Engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond

Learning about a new genre of writing without looking at samples of that genre and analyzing it can be compared to trying to learn how to drive a car without ever stepping foot in one. Genre analysis was a big part of this course and truly helped us improve our writing because with certain samples we learned what makes a certain piece of writing more effective than another regardless of if they covered the same topic or not. Genre analysis is something I wish my previous English classes would spend time on especially considering the fact that for a hands on or visual learner; genre analysis made the course more enjoyable. See figure 5 for an example of genre analysis.
